Orange and walnut biscotti

I don’t know why but I’ve never tried making biscotti at home. I guess what I didn’t realize was that they are SO simple to make! Really! I mean, I will never buy biscotti in the supermarket…ever again! :) The moment you take a piece of homemade biscotti and dip it in a hot cup of tea…unforgettable :) Thank you Paul Hollywood for the inspiration! :) These orange and walnut biscotti are just delicious. They have this festive kind of feeling to them so I will be definitely making these again for Christmas! Can’t wait for the holiday season to start again. Am I the only one so excited? :)


Orange and walnut biscotti

  1. 250g plain flour + extra for dusting
  2. 250g caster sugar
  3. 1/2 tsp baking powder
  4. 250g caster sugar
  5. 3 medium eggs, beaten
  6. 200g chopped walnuts
  7. 1 large orange, finely grated zest only
  1. Preheat the oven to 170°C/150°C fan and line a large baking tray with baking paper.
  2. Stir together flour, baking powder and sugar in a bowl and add the eggs slowly to make a dough.
  3. Mix in the walnuts and orange zest.
  4. Tip the dough onto a lightly floured surface, knead the mixture gently and divide into. Roll into two logs, each approximately 25cm long. Place them gently on the lined baking tray and bake for 25 minutes.
  5. Remove from the oven, leave to cool slightly, then cut each log into 1.5 - 2cm thick slices. Lay each slice on its side on the lined baking tray.
  6. Return it to the oven and bake for another 5-7 minutes, turn the slices over to the other side and continue to bake for another 5-7 minutes until golden-brown.
  7. Remove from the oven and leave to cool on a wire-rack.*
  1. * Once biscotti cool down they harden up and get that specific to biscotti crunch :)
